MABA Fieldtrip to Auburn University Bee Lab Join us for MABA’s next club field trip to the Auburn Bee Lab on Saturday, November 15. We’ll receive a research update from the lab’s post-doctoral students, a tour of their apiary, and learn about how they conduct their field assessments. There will be a break for lunch and time to rotate between topics. November 2025 MABA Meeting

At our Monday, November 10th meeting, MABA will welcome Master Beekeeper Steve Esau. Steve began beekeeping in 2011 with two hives and the intent of making his East Atlanta neighborhood a better place through urban agriculture. Those two hives quickly grew into what is today known as the Little Bee Project. Consisting of more than 100 colonies, the Little Bee Project is hardly little.  MABA's annual potluck dinner and honey show is THIS COMING SUNDAY, 9/28. As part of the fun, we'll have both live and silent auctions. On the block this year are offerings including bee colonies, mentoring sessions, and of course Linda Tillman’s famed, highly-prized "Honey of a Dinner" for six. Journeyman Study Group Now Forming

Are you ready to take your beekeeping to the NEXT level? If you have already passed your certified beekeeper exam and held that certification for at least one full year, then you are eligible to sit for the journeyman exam. The journeyman certification is the second level of UGA’s master beekeeper program. Testing will take place during the GBA conference in September in Gainesville. To help candidates prepare for this difficult exam, MABA is forming a Journeyman study group. Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association’s Junior Beekeeper programs are unique opportunities for children ages 6* – 13 to experience hands-on learning about honey bees, how they live, and how they make honey.Children will learn all about honey bees and beekeeping using a variety of methods before suiting up in protective gear and visiting a beehive with an experienced beekeeper!The day ends after extracting honey from a hive and participants are sent home with a personalized certificate, small bottle of honey, and other bee related goodies.Each program runs from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
