MABA has an amazing line-up of guest speakers planned for 2026. Mark your calendars and join us!

On Monday, March 9,  MABA will welcome Kelly Miranda as our featured speaker. Kelly is a Pesticide Program Specialist with the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

She will explain how our state department of agriculture’s pesticide incident complaint process  works.  It’s the system that ensures pesticides are used with care, within the law, and without harm to people, animals, or the environment.

When someone suspects a pesticide has been applied illegally or caused harm, the journey begins with a complaint. This report is sent to the state’s agriculture department where trained investigators step in. Kelly can address questions related to pesticide exposure / pesticide kills in honey bees.

Prior to Kelly’s presentation, Master Beekeeper Linda Tillman will lead a half-hour mentoring session beginning at 6:30 pm. The topic will be using swarm lure to attract swarms. Linda will bring samples of her homemade swarm lure to share.

Our meetings are held at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in third-floor classroom C302 on the 2nd Monday of each month, except September and December when we hold our annual fall honey show/pot luck and holiday party respectively.

Meetings begin with a mentoring session at 6:30 p.m., followed by a featured speaker at 7 p.m. Topics range from the latest findings in honey bee research to hive management, honey, beeswax, and other hive products.

On arrival, check-in at the welcome table to be entered into our monthly door prize drawing. Enjoy snacks and fellowship in the back of the room. Membership is not required. Everyone interested in honey bees is welcome!
