At our October meeting, MABA will welcome Justin Schoendorf, owner and mead maker at Monks Meadery (579 N Highland Ave NE Atlanta, GA 30307). Founded in 2011, Monks specializes in fun, modern dry-style carbonated meads. As the official mead of the Georgia Renaissance Festival and Dragon Con, Monks brews whimsical flavors like “Dragons Nectar” — a delightful fusion of dragon fruit, passion fruit and hibiscus — and “Faerie Dew” —  an enchanting lavender honey blend.

Our October meeting will begin at 6:30 pm with a mentoring session led by MABA member Bryan Luffman, who will discuss his recent unfortunate experiences with a pesticide bee kill in his apiary earlier this season.

Our meetings are held at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in third-floor classroom C302 on the 2nd Monday of each month, except September and December when we hold our annual fall honey show/pot luck and holiday party respectively.

Meetings begin with a mentoring session at 6:30 p.m., followed by a featured speaker at 7 p.m. Topics range from the latest findings in  honey bee research to hive management, honey, beeswax, and other hive products.

On arrival, check-in at the welcome table to be entered into our monthly door prize drawing. Enjoy snacks and fellowship in the back of the room. Membership is not required.

Everyone interested in honey bees is welcome!
