On Tuesday, October 27, 5-7 pm, MABA and Room & Board will present a Beeswax Luminary-Making Workshop. This event, led by Master Beekeeper Deb DeWitt, focuses on creating a variation of the traditional candle — a beeswax luminary bowl. These handcrafted luminaries are not only beautiful keepsakes but also emit a sweet honey scent and a tranquil glow.
This MABA-sponsored event will be held at Room & Board’s Westside Provisions District location at 1170 Howell Mill Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. All workshop materials will be provided. Hors d’œuvres, beer and wine will be served. The workshop is FREE, but enrollment is limited. You must register in advance at:

About Deb DeWitt
Master Beekeeper Deb DeWitt has been keeping bees since 2018 and maintains colonies at her home in downtown Atlanta, as well as in Chattahoochee Hills, Arabia Mountain, and Brevard, NC. Deb is an active member of the Tara and Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Associations, where she has held board positions. In 2025, she was named the Georgia Beekeepers Association’s Beekeeper of the Year.
She manages the Tara/MABA teaching apiary in Decatur and teaches new beekeepers at schools, in her local community garden, and through the Georgia Beekeepers Association (GBA) Prison Program. Deb also collaborates with local tree companies to save bees living in trees, by preserving the trunk section housing the nest cavity, thus keeping the colonies safe and intact inside.
